Down In the Pit

Lord,

Where are you for the lost causes?

Where are you for the miserable fools?

Where are you for the frozen hearts in lonely fires?

And Lord, how will you save those set on refusing you?

Save me, Lord,

For I have stitched myself to the world.

I cannot repay my debts,

And punishment is swiftly coming.

O, that you would take me away!

Trust in the Lord;

He who made you is he who can save you.

Cry to the Lord— your tears will rise like incense,

Die for him— your blood will bring you home.

Trust in the Lord, now and always.
