Do Not Go Gentle from that Good Night*

Do not fall prey to this passing night,
New life should leap into the dawning day;
Pray, take us into bold breaking light.
Cloudless blue beckoned us birds to flight,
but fluffed and quivering, we tumbled into grey.
Do not fall prey to this passing night.
Now eyelids fall back while alarm sets off fright,
and our Sun grins, greeting each neighbor on his way.
Pray, take us into bold breaking light.
Cool shroud of sheets enclose me tight,
enfolding around each finger and tell me to stay.
Do not fall prey to this passing night.
Yellowed blinds askew and strung up tight
fracture the gracious reach of each ray.
Pray, take us into bold breaking light.
To watch a fledgling, eager, as a kite
spiral and rise- tongue lolling on the way.
Do not fall prey to this passing night,
Pray, take us into bold breaking light.
