Consider the Lilies

Consider the lilies,
Petals white as fresh snow,
Neither spinning nor toiling,
Yet adorned, head to toe.
Watered from above,
Fed from below,
Tended by their Master,
Their response: to grow.
Sprung for a season,
Their beauty’s renowned,
But half a year later,
They return to the ground.
How much more you?
Made in God’s image;
Embraced by the Son
Who took on our visage.
Every hair numbered,
Worth more than a sparrow,
Worth death on a cross,
Where nail pierced marrow.
You need only to turn,
Like flower to sun.
Remain in God’s love;
The vict’ry is won.
