Under the Guardian Angel’s Wings

There once was a child guided by the Holy Spirit who fell asleep without brushing his teeth.
The child’s guardian angel began directing his dreams. And the child, in his dream, heard the angel’s voice, “Come, my child”. And the child left everything he was doing to follow the voice.
The child spoke and said, “Who are you?”. The angel of God spoke through the child’s intellect through the most pure inspirations, as if the child heard a whisper in their soul.
The child’s angel said, “I am your guardian angel”. The child understood immediately, but the angel tilted its head as if it were inspecting something.
“Hmm . . .”, the guardian angel mused, leaning closer. “Child, who made your tooth stuck out like that?”
The child, blushing with embarrassment, almost looked away but said “I did not brush my teeth before going to bed”.
The angel chuckled. “Ah! Little one! Come sit at my right side!”
The child sat at his side, close to his wings, enough to be enamored by his light.
The angel, with its gaze towards Heaven, said “Your smile reflects the joy of your soul. Don’t you think your Heavenly Father does not notice when you forget to do small things, like not brushing your teeth? He wants you to grow, even if it seems uncomfortable at first”.
The child furrowed as he hugged his knees to his chest. “But . . . It is just brushing my teeth. Does it really matter?”, he asked.
The guardian angel knelt, his wings spreading like shimmering clouds. The angel delicately traced its finger along the child’s cheek, and the child blushed in consolation. As the child blinked, the little one touched their cheek where the angel traced with its finger, as if the warmth lingered.
“Even when you blush, my child, your Heavenly Father notices!”, the angel exclaimed. Embarrassed, the child began to frown until their guardian angel took notice, and suddenly — the angel’s wings danced across the room like morning breaking through stormy clouds.
The child’s eyes widened at the ethereal stature of the angel, and the angel grinned.
The room felt warm and still, scented like roses, an implacable sweetness. The child pondered deeply in their heart, and finally said “So, if I smile at Jesus, will He smile back?”.
The angel laughed, its wings fluttering in approval. “Yes! He already is my little one”.
Before the child could respond, the angel transformed into a dazzling light, filling the dream with heavenly consolations. As the child opened their eyes, the warmth of the angel’s light lingered with the rising of the sun. The child blinked, gazing at the sunlight streaming through the window, still smelling the scent of roses.
Inspired by heavenly confidence, the child ran quickly to the bathroom. As he gazed at the mirror, he noticed something extraordinary — the cavity was gone! Overwhelmed with serenity, the child began brushing his teeth with fervor and determination, to transform a mundane moment with small actions of love.
From afar, the Blessed Mother, sitting on her throne, gazed upon the child through the mirror of grace. “Our darling is growing in love”, Mary murmured, her voice tender. “Even our child’s little way pleases Your Sacred Heart”. The Infant Jesus then made the Sign of the Cross to bless the child’s day as Their twin smiles glowed like a beacon, illuminating the guardian angel as he folded his wings in quiet satisfaction.
